Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a disease of the retina caused by high blood sugar. High blood sugar can damage tiny blood vessels in the retina. People with diabetes are at risk of developing diabetic retinopathy. There are no symptoms; blurred vision is a sign the disease has already progressed. By the time this happens, it's too late for vision reversal. However, if caught in time, modern diabetic retinopathy treatment options can slow or halt disease progression. This is why regular vision care is essential to protecting yourself.

Diabetic Retinopathy at a Glance:

  • Anyone with diabetes is at risk of developing diabetic retinopathy.
  • If you catch diabetic retinopathy in time, modern diabetic retinopathy treatment options can slow or halt its progression.
  • Once vision damage has occurred, the damage cannot be reversed.
